And the best place to farm these Wizards would be either the Hotel Hallway in Traverse Town, or the Bamboo Thicket in Deep Jungle. The Hotel will have a lot more Wizards, but the Bamboo Thicket has more open areas to run around & strategize. So it’s kinda more of a personal preference on where you’d prefer to farm. Note that these Wizards do also appear in Hollow Bastion, but generally that won’t be the most time-efficient location to farm solely for Shiny Crystal drops.
Farming Shiny Crystals
Wizards have a 2% drop chance for the Crystal. To farm them you’ll have two great options: You can run through the Hotel in Traverse Town and take out everything that spawns in the hallways, or you can visit the Bamboo Thicket in Deep Jungle (the area right next to the Campsite). The Hotel will be better to farm in if you like enclosed spaces. Just taking a walk straight through the place should net you quite a few Wizards – and there’s easy save spots + the Item Shop in Traverse Town, so there are some real benefits to this spot. The Bamboo Thicket has fewer Wizards, but more open areas. Plus Wizards do spawn at the Campsite too. And if you’re looking for other synthesis materials that drop in Deep Jungle then this location might be more attractive to you.
Shiny Crystal Uses
These materials re used in a bunch of synthesis recipes: Three Stars: This accessory will protect any party member with +3 Defense and 20% resistance to Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder damage. And the effect stacks, so consider making a few of these if you’d like! You can synthesize this access in KH1(original) using List III and x3 Blaze Shards, x3 Frost Shards, x3 Thunder Shards, x1 Orichalcum, and x1 Shiny Crystal. If you’re playing KH1.5, you’ll instead need List IV and x5 Power Gems, x3 Mystery Goo, and x1 Shiny Crystal. Elixir: This healing item will fully restore any party member’s HP & MP. It can be synthesized in KH1.5/Final Mix using List IV and x1 Power Crystal, x1 Shiny Crystal, x2 Bright Crystals, and x3 Orichalcum. The original KH1 game has a different recipe not requiring Shiny Crystals. Megalixir: This is arguably the best healing item in the game, fully restoring your party’s HP and MP. You can synthesize this in the original KH1 using List IV and x5 Bright Shards, x3 Bright Gems, x1 Bright Crystal, x1 Shiny Crystal, and x2 Gale. Note that KH1.5 will have a different recipe not requiring Shiny Crystals. Atlas Armlet: A magic lover’s perfect accessory. This armlet increases your MP by +2 and Defense by +2, as well as enhancing magic & summon power significantly. Synthesize this in KH1 (original) using List IV and x2 Shiny Crystals, x1 Mystery Goo, x3 Orichalcum, and x1 Gale. Note that KH1.5 needs different ingredients not using any Shiny Crystals. Crystal Crown: This incredible crown will increase your HP +6, MP +1, AP +3, Strength +2, and Defense +2. Synthesize this in KH1 (original) with List IV and x3 Lucid Crystals, x3 Power Crystals, x3 Shiny Crystals, and x3 Bright Crystals. If you’re playing KH1.5/Final Mix, the recipe will instead need List Iv and x5 Lucid Crystals, x1 Power Crystal, x1 Shiny Crystal, x3 Blazing Stones, and x3 Frost Stones.
Are Shiny Crystals Worth Farming?
Wizards remain one of the more challenging enemies to fight in KH1. And the drop rate is low for these crystals (even with Lucky Strike). But working to farm them will be quite worthwhile if you’re looking to complete your synthesis recipes. The items you can craft, especially the Crystal Crown and Megalixirs, are definitely worth the trouble to stack up lots of Shiny Crystals.
